Orthotics
In addition to physical therapy treatment of the foot and ankle, CCPT is the pre-eminent provider of custom fabricated orthotics in Southeastern Louisiana. Virginia "Gini" Davis, PT, MA has been fabricating custom-made orthotics for nearly 30 years. CCPT also maintains a wide selection of over-the-counter orthotic options.
An orthotic is a device that improves foot function and support, as well as modifies the alignment of the foot. During normal gait, the foot goes through two phases - stance and swing. Because an orthotic is designed to alter the position of the mechanics of the foot during weight bearing activities, a thorough evaluation and discussion of "normal" mechanics during "stance" is critical.
